A “Storie” for the Times

Spooks in the Woods

A picture memoir of Cold War Berlin

Book Review

Mike Storie’s unique, original book “Spooks In The Woods” pulls off the amazing.

After being drafted and trained as an ASA (Army Security Agency) Agent, Mr. Storie takes the dry, complex subject of his experiences in military security and spins it into a delightful, humorous, informative read. His narrative, along with fascinating photographs, mostly taken by Mr. Storie, turns his book of the underground, secretive world of military security into an almost tongue in cheek revelation of the truth behind espionage in Berlin during the Cold War, as opposed to the superfluous James Bondian world of glamour and exotic adventure fed the public.

I recommend it highly to everyone, especially veterans who worked in that arena during the Cold War. Bravo, Mr. Storie, for your book of humorous, fact-filled, easy reading about the reality of a subject seldom “exposed.”
